| Customer Reviews: Pierogi calling! June 17, 2009 Sacramento Book Review (Sacramento, CA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
There is a reason Frommer's is a leader in the travel guide industry, for they do an outstanding job making travelers feel like locals. //Frommer's Poland, First Edition//, is a case in point. From Warsaw to Krakow to Lublin to Gdansk, authors Mark Baker and Kit F. Chung will fill you in on the best hotel splurges and bargains, where to get the best pierogi and the best gifts to bring home, and even where to have the best Communist-era experiences. Moreover, Baker and Chung tell it like it is in an easy-to-read format using conversational vernacular that is almost like chatting with them over a Zywiec beer and placki (potato pancake) at a café they recommend in the book. The suggested itineraries are helpful for travelers looking to make the most out of their trip or for something out of the ordinary. Some include a five-day focus on Jewish heritage, Poland for families, and a five-day outdoor vacation in Poland. Check out their tips on the best way to act like a local, the best diamonds in the rough destinations, and the best local dining experiences. And don't let the slim paperback fool you! Not only will it fit in to your daypack perfectly, but the guide is also packed with relevant information and off-the-beaten-path tidbits that only seasoned travelers would know.
